Type 1.5 LADA
Hi. I was diagnosed with what they thought was Type 2 8 years ago. After quite a few complications Dics decided I was actually Type 1 LADA in April of 2018.

Before then, to me LADA was a crappy Russian car from the eighties!!! (Why can't it be Type 1 Ferrari?)

Now on Toujeo Basal and Novorapid Bolus injections. Not kidding when I say it took some getting used to. I'm 47 and it was a big lifestyle change!!

Slowly but surely my Blood Glucose levels are getting better. They were Averaging between 19 and 28 mmols!! Now in the 7s and 8s.

Very new to this forum lark so hoping to grab advice from people in same boat and also offer any help I can

Thanks and hello

Mark

Hello, Mark, and welcome to the forum. There are quite a few of us on here who developed Type 1 at a 'more mature' age! I was 51. And quite a few of us (me included) were initially misdiagnosed with Type 2!
Glad you’ve got a correct diagnosis at long last, and your getting a handle on things. Ask anything you need to, there’s usually someone on here who’s got the T shirt!

Hi and welcome to the forum 🙂

if you have any specific questions feel free to ask 🙂

xx

Hey Mark and welcome. I was wrongly diagnosed type 2 to start with also. Took 9 months to sort. Glad your levels are so much better - you must be feeling better too.

Hi Mark, welcome the middle aged onset T1 club. We head a trail of red faced GPs who think if you’re out of nappies and into breeding you can’t develop T1.

Well done on the sensible numbers. It’s much easier with insulin, isn’t it?🙂

If you’ve any questions, ask away.

And if we are to compare stadiums, I’ll take a selfie of me in my wheelchair at Ewood Park, if the ladies can bear my toned physique:D

Hi cyclemanc. Welcome to forum

Welcome @Cyclemanc from another late starter with T1.
Unusually my GP spotted the problem, but that may have been something to do with the high level of ketones!!

It is a lot to get your head round at the start, so fire away with any questions that you have. No questions are considered stupid in here. Someone will be able to help.
