Hi all just been diagnosed with type 2 and trying to figure out how i ended up this way i eat very healthy and exercise on a regular basis am fit active and walk our dog on a daily basis as well as running around after 3 grandchildren & their parents!!. But hay ho that’s life i blame a course of medication i was put on to kill an infection which affected my metabolism but then I’m no DR what would i know about my body. I saw a post about someone who was sitting at 22 i know how you feel drink plenty of water and eat anything that doesn’t contain carbs that’s what i done plus i was taking medication twice daily and another wee tablet to help pull my sugars down i lost over a stone in weight but it all worked out ok now sitting average of 5.4 whoopee.
Unfortunately many people think they eat healthily but if the body has problems coping with carbohydrates then their diet is often too high in those very foods that convert to glucose.
You have obviously made some improvement but that regime needs to be sustainable so needs to be enjoyable.
Have a look at this link to compare with what you are doing and to give you some ideas https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
Which medication were you on? And how long ago were you able to come off it? Were you told the result of your HbA1c that confirmed your T2 diagnosis? This will usually be a result at of above 48mmol/mol
