Not quite sure what to make of the above.
Bloods are under control, but amylase levels are increased and stool is smelling of acetone.
Pain in abdomen as well.

Could these be linked to my pancreas/diabetes at all or am I looking at an unrelated illness?

What medication are you on for diabetes? Do you have any ketostix to check your urine?

Metformin.
No, don't have that at present.
I haven't ever heard of metformin causing ketosis at Normal blood sugar levels (that was why I asked, there is a type of medication that can).

So I would be inclined to suspect something other than directly due to diabetes. Has your GP said anything about the amylase levels?

GP flagged it up and referred me to a GI specialist but this morning I got a call receiving a phone appointment for GI nearly a year from now (end of Sept 2023)!

That doesn't seem at all satisfactory as the possible causes of elevated amylase warrant more urgent attention than 1 year.
I should press for at least a consultation with your GP to discuss. Together with the smell of acetone which could indicate ketones.

I have tried twice but he said it's because of waiting lists. Not sure what to do.

It may be better to have a referral to the diabetic clinic as the issue could be pancreas related. That should be much quicker.

High Amylase levels indicate a pancreatic problem, and it should be seen to sooner rather than later as you won't be able to absorb food properly.
If you have access to your results online, then look and see how high the number is.

Hope you get an appointment soon @emil87

And get some helpful pointers
