I had my ultrasound scan yesterday to determine discomfort in right hand side; wasn't given any results so now have a very long 2 weeks too wait. I did try to get something out of the consultant but she would not divulge her findings and said she couldn't tell me anything because she didn't know me; my medical history etc... I did watch the screen though; not sure what I was looking at but it was fascinating.

She took images of the whole of my abdoman including liver; kidney's pancrease and even my lady bits..🙄 I did ask if she had seen anything serious would she tell me; again she said no but if my GP was concerned she wouldn't have sent me for a routine scan (my appointment was booked in August and shouldn't have been until October 9th, but hospital had a cancellation)....
My recent kidney and liver function have come back ok...

She did say that I do have to try and put some weight on and asked whether the DN had referred me to a dietician..I know I've lost a lot of weight but the stress of my diabetes and diverticulitus and now this is making it extra hard...

I'm sorry for rambling just worried; anxious and scared...

I know exactly how you feel...I had to wait weeks for my results as my GP was on holiday. My scan was inconclusive and I am now being sent for a CT scan.
If your scan does show something, at least you have answers as to what they pain is and start to look to curing the problem. If it doesn't show anything, you are still left wondering.

The radiologist doing my scan said nothing to me either, so it's a case of wait and see what the GP says.

I know that feeling! - not that I actually thought I had anything serious but it IS scary when they say they are sending you for a scan.

However if they thought you had - just for instance! - bowel cancer - it would have been a colonoscopy, not a scan!

And what she said was right, wasn't it? - if they thought it was serious it wouldn't have been booked as routine.

You've got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
And latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between !

Have pm'd you Amanda. xx

It's hard to not have been given any indication of if there is or isn't anything. But try not to panic, I know easy said than done. If there is a serious problem they will send results through quicker. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that everything is clear.

My experience of a scan was completely different, the lady who did my first scan reacted with a sharp intake of breath and then showed me the screen to confirm I had a gallbladder full of small stones. She explained she would get results back to my gp within a few days and she did, it is normally done in 10 to 14 14 days. I was waiting for an urgent referal for removal of the gallbladder when I developed an infection and ended up in hospital. This was about 2 weeks after the scan.

Like you, I had to wait two weeks for the results of my scan. I think procedure for giving results varies from trust to trust as the lady who took (?) the scan explained she was a mere technician, not a medic, and that the scan would be examined by a consultant.
Try not to worry too much, as Trophywench has pointed out, if your GP suspected something very serious, you would have undergone a more invasive test!

It is a pain waiting for results. As a general rule of thumb if anything serious is found they contact you quite quickly. As you are worried, go have a chat to the doctor who will be able to chase for the results if necessary. I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you all for your kind words and support; I did have a colonoscopy in March which diagnosed divertiticulitis; also had a biopsy which came back negative...

I've also had a liver function and kidney function test; both came back ok.

I guess I just wanted the sonographer to tell me whether anything was found; I think her measuring shapes had me diagnosing myself  she was very pleasant and was more concerned about my weight loss and advised me to try and put weight on.... She also told me to treat my scan like an MOT and try and reduce my anxiety levels.

I just need to relax a little....🙂

One thing was funny...as the Xray department was full they sent me to maternity; was asked if I was there for my 20week check...😱

ROFL - did you remind them you were a Diabetic pregnancy?

They'd have been in a right panic when they couldn't find the baby let alone it's heartbeat !
