hi there i had such good feedback on my blood/sugar meter i need to ask another question please im really struggling with stomach cramps tenderness and feeling slightly nauseous day and night.i was put on metformin,i am up to 4 a day 2 with breakfast 2 with dinner i have tried taking them various ways before during and after meals any feedback would be great ty in advance.

Those symptoms are certainly consistent with Metformin side effects. How long have you been taking them?
What was your HbA1c at diagnosis? I am guessing it was high since they have put you on max dose.
What sort of readings are you getting on your BG meter now and have you modified your diet to reduce your carb intake?
If you are eating low carb and getting good BG results then you might be able to half or even stop the Metformin but you should discuss it with your GP/DN and maybe negotiate a 3 month medication hiatus to see how you get on. If you can reassure them that you are getting good readings as a result of lifestyle changes then they should be prepared to work with you. Alternatively there is a slow release version which is kinder to the digestive system which they might be persuaded to prescribe.

As Grovesy has said it is important to contact your GP
There is a slow release version of Metformin which might be easier for your to tolerate.
I hope that you can get this sorted out.
i had reading of 40 in january which went up to 106 in march,the 40 was prediabetic reading my meter reading this morning was 5.2 but tends to be around 6.2 before breakfast and after dinner.i cut out all sugar in coffee all sugary drinks,sweets etc i usually have tuna on seeded brown bread for breakfast or peanut butter so trying hard lol but ty for reply

That is what metformin does to some unlucky people.
You do know that it is carbohydrate which is the problem - if you eat ordinary bread it will raise your blood glucose exactly like sugar.
I only eat Livlife or protein bread which is 4 gm per slice, and not often.
If you cut out the high carbohydrate foods you might be able to argue for a reduction in the Metformin, as long as the nurse/GP doesn't think that is what is helping.

It won't improve things immediately, cos both sorts of metformin take time to build up and then fade again, hence it may be over a week (or even longer) after you swap to see a difference, so needs patience on your part.

Unless it is one of the really low carb breads, you might as well eat white - the colour of the carbohydrate makes not a jot of difference to me, it is still starch.
I hope that you get some relief with the different coating on the Metformin - some have reported that it helps quite a bit.
