Hey all,

OK - I'm hoping I'm freaking out and this is (hopefully) an ask for reassurance!

Yesterday a bruise appeared on my stomach that is black and purple and really scary looking (just a bit smaller than a 50p piece. Today it looks v slightly bigger/blacker and it's really freaking me out. I do bruise occasionally on my legs etc from occasional injections but nothing like this and never on my stomach... I do remember an injection stinging on my stomach the other day but I didn't think anything of it? It doesn't hurt at all!

Should I see a doctor or is this normal??!?!? :(

I've had the occasional one like that. It can happen if the needle passes through a small blood vessel, causing a little bleeding and the bruise. I don;t think it is anything to worry about, but obviously if you are concerned then better to ask your GP. Hope it fades quickly! 🙂

Just like Northerner, I too have discovered a black and blue bruise from time to time, its quite a shock when you dicover it, it seems to appear from nowhere 😱. and seems to disappear after a day or so with no problem.

When I first started injecting a had a big nasty looking black and red bruise on my stomach and when I mentioned it to my nurse she said I'd hit a capillory blood vessel when I injected.

But like you I wondered what the heck it was. Now when it happens I know it's nothing to worry about.

Hope the bruise has faded and is not painful. It is always right to see a doctor or seek help if you are worried or something out of the ordinary happens

Aghh - so sorry for slow reply - I've been stuck under a pile of boxes attempting to be organised for the move next week.

Bruise is now a beautiful shade of fading greens and yellows. Thank you all for your comments they did calm me down and judging by it's slow but steady fade you were all correct.

Thank you again 🙂 at least I know not to panic now if it happens again!
