I'm loving Dexcom One and I haven't even been using it for a full day!

I have different expectations and reasons for using Dexcom One compared to some.

I know the Dexcom Clarity app but is it just for data sharing with one's health team or can I share from my receiver (there's an option on the receiver)? Might have to call customer service and ask.

Although it's early days I am thinking that I will continue with Dexcom One. I'm not hopeful that Libre 3 will be available anytime soon to purchase as a self funder so for the time being I will stick with Dexcom One.

I haven't posted on the FB group that I belong to that I am using Dexcom One. It was bad enough when I was doing Libre 2 being accused once by one person of being ore of the people buying off the shelf that prevented her getting a week's supply.

Fortunately Admin said to her it wasn't my fault and she should take her issue up with her provider. This I was grateful. They also said that as I pay the pharmacist will sell.

Although in a lot of things they have been very supportive I still don't feel comfortable especially about posting about my choice of diabetes management tool unlike on this forum.

If I feel that Dexcom One helps me manage my diabetes that's all that matters.

Thank you.

Not sure if you can help. If Dexcom provide a receiver when phone is not compatible what is the purpose of the Clarity app? I'm assuming this is similar to the Dexcom One app but can only be used in conjunction with a receiver.

Do you know if the Dexcom Clarity app is free to download. I have a Clarity download option on my receiver so presuming I download the app and select this option and the receiver sends information to the app.

If I am wrong please feel free to correct me.

I’ve never used a Dexcom receiver, so I’m not sure I can be much help.

Dexcom Clarity was free to download to my phone, and I use it to filter and understand historic data that my phone has uploaded to my Dexcom account. I don’t know how the data upload happens with a receiver, but perhaps @Pumper_Sue does, as I think she has more experience with Dex than I do.

Okay no worries thank you. Glad it's free.

Hopefully someone who uses a receiver knows how the data transfers to the Clarity app either by plugging the receiver into the phone or automatic transmission.

With the Libre reader the upload happened via a laptop or computer and a piece of software you uploaded.

The Dex helpline would be happy to talk you through it I’m sure.

Thank you. I will give them a call tomorrow.

I know some might think why do I want the Clarity app if I have a receiver; the receiver has a small screen compared to my phone

As I understand it they do different things. The receiver (or equivalent app) shows the current (and recent) data, and the Clarity app shows historical information. (And, I imagine, more analysis.)

Judging by this, you can connect the receiver to a PC and upload the data (similar to the Libre readers): https://dexcompdf.s3-us-west-2.amaz...37-Dexcom-CLARITY-Patient-Sharing-Handout.pdf

And this claims to be able to build an app that'll work on non-approved phones, though there are the obvious risks of using software that's not approved:

The Clarity version I have used also has a variety of options, filters, views and reports to help you spot patterns.

I don't have a laptop just a notebook but assumed id the Clarity app was downloaded and you chose the Clarity upload option on the receiver it would automatically transfer data unless I'm wrong.

I got the receiver as my phone is not compatible even though I can download the Dexcom One app. Assume Clarity is for those who use a receiver again I could be wrong.

Yes it‘s a nuisance your phone isn’t on the compatible list (though if you can download and run the app on your phone I do half wonder if your phone might actually work with the sensor after all?!)

For me I use both the app (which I assume is the reader in your set-up) and Dexcom Clarity, which offers analysis of data from previous days (or months) such as this:

Maybe it does now. You'd know because (I assume) you'd need to configure your wifi and your Clarity username and password. If there isn't a place to do that I don't see how it could work.

I think it's for everyone, and shows more information than the receiver or Dexcom One (or G6) apps do, in particular historical data. So something like Libreview (though Libreview is purely a web server without any app), which offers different ways of showing the data from the app or readers (and sharing that information).

Neither my older Samsung A5 nor my new A51 is compatible with the Dexcom One and the app simply won't install.
Your screenshots were helpful; I'm struggling to get any sense of what Dexcom One does provide. I'll give Abbott their due, their Freestyle training videos do provide a useful introduction to what it offers.

@Bruce Stephens the details you have provided for building your own Dexcom app is for the Dexcom 7.
I understand one of the ways they have reduced the cost of the Dexcom ONE is to remove the public interface to extract data. This is why it cannot be used for closed looping with a pump and why it does not work with xDrip.
I can't be 100% certain but I don't think you can build your own app for the Dexcom ONE.

That's possible. My reading is it covers all of them and one of the new features is support for the G7. But the Dexcom ONE is relatively new so I wouldn't be astonished if there were extra issues with it.
