Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi I have been type 1 for nearly 1 year. Befor diagnosis i used to think i had now what i know to be hypos. Since diagnosis my insulin requirements have continued to drop, Needing only 11-17 units of nova rapid per day. Always had a problem with excercise as used to drop low quickly. so, today i spent a day tidying my garden so decided not to have any insulin. 2 hours after b/fast and dinner i was 10 by 4 hours i was 3.6:confused with shakes and needed lucozade. Dont understand how i had hypos with no injected insulin all day and eating more than usual as i was doing a lot of work - Any ideas.

Hmm that sounds really odd especially if you didn't have your insulin. Sounds like your pancreas if still producing alot of it itself. Best to speak to your doc.

will be arrangng app tommorrow as iths really concerned me. Have heard of other autoimmune disorders that can coincide with diabetes. Will be asking doc what he thinks.

Deffo, I know that Thyroid problems happen along with diabetes and several other things too. Hopefully they will give u answers though! 🙂

Thanks for the reply, have been thinking i have another condition for some time which i have said to nurse and specialist, both said its the diabetes settling. After today definatley will be nagging for tests to be done

Make sure you do nag 🙂 Good luck and I hope you sort it out soon!!

The 'Honeymoon Period' can last for a few years and has no real pattern, so your pancreas could be functioning to some degree.........

Just keep testing and recording so your doctor has a better picture..........

So - is that no basal insulin at all? Just Novorapid?

yes, do not need basal, only using nova rapid with meals.
