Hi I’m looking for some suggestions for my dad, he lives 200 miles away from me so I’m limited. He’s an a supported living flat so no oven just microwave and no freezer.. he’s type 2 and doesn’t use a computer barely can work his phone and doesn’t cook.., very helpful I know
I’m just looking for somewhere that I can suggest to him to buy ready meals.. Nothing fancy just plain simple meals he can just microwave.
many ideas welcome
thanks

Thats a tough one almost all are frozen, how about giving Wiltshire Farm
a ring and see what they come up with they do a quality meal I believe you
need to talk to someone like that as they do deliver, if you don't want to phone
check their web site best wishes

Thanks for your reply. Yea I had heard about them, I have had a scout threw some of the threads on here and there not getting a good review carb wise. I’m trying to learn what’s good and what’s bad so I can condense it and give him the basics.

The couple I like are frozen so may not be much help, Tesco do a cottage pie with root veg mash which is quite good and not too bad on ingredients. How about looking at M&S as they do a range of smaller portion ready meals too.

As for explaining it simply, I’d say things like meat and veg are usually good choices, things like sandwiches, pasta, biscuits and puddings need to be careful on portion sizes.

I was looking on behalf of someone a while ago and found a company called Parsleybox. You don't need a fridge to store the food and it can be heated in the microwave. I didnt look any further as the person changed her mind but it might be worth a look at their website and nutrition.

Ah, that’s the one! I’ve been racking my brains, because I knew I’d seen a reference to long life ready meals that could be stored in a cupboard.

Hi. M&S do a very good lower carb range call 'Balanced for you' in the chiller cabinet. Have a look at the carb content.

I've bought a couple of these and they're ok. The chicken courgetti is only 20g carbs.

Wiltshire foods do have a diabetic range, I used to order for my Ma when she became ill and needed supported living.
She wasn't diabetic, but it was becoming increasingly problematic for me to cook meals for her.
I can corroborate that the quality was poor, as far as I was concerned, but the one saving grace was you could order & have it delivered , in my Ma's case direct to the freezer, all the delivery driver had to do was get let in.

With Wilshire farm foods they do different size meals, they also use a certified dietitian to work out the carb value.
As they can deliver as much or as little as you want, would it be possible to keep a few meals in the fridge? You can also have table top freezers so this might be an option for your Dad.

Let us know how he gets on with them @Susan365 🙂
