I need to share, if I may.

Having taken some god-awful readings to discuss with diabetic nurse three weeks ago & convince/d doctor to prescribe strips, have been testing for the last two weeks, using the information / advice on this forum / website regarding food.

When I say god-awful, all very high - with my highest hitting 20.3. At the time, had no idea what it all meant, but thanks to all the information I've found on here, it's all become so much clearer.

At bursting point today - as I've recorded my lowest ever readings after lunch and tea - a 7.2 and a 7.3 - OMG !😱

I appreciate still up and not all my readings are that low (just yet!) / consistent, but I'm getting these because of the advice I've received here....so THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!

I've a long way to go but I feel so much better, generally and much more positive.

I'm off to the dietician this week and plan to take along my weight loss and my readings and discuss with her....to see what she says...will be interesting as all at odds with what information she gave me....

I really can't say a big enough thank you.... I can't stop :D -ing !!!

PS. Thanks Pav - plucked up the courage to post !

Helen, the most important thing is that you have listened to the advice and acted on it. Well done! 🙂

Helen, I think you and I have some kind of synchronicity going on, it just goes to show how much reading about other people's experiences here is empowering 🙂 and 7.2 or 7.3 after a meal is actually better than the target is it not? 😎

Thanks Cleo / LeeLee. Naty, I can't express what a revelation this forum has been - all the information / advice has been SO beneficial ! I finally feel like I am beginning to understand what diabetes is all about - by talking to people who talk about it, in a way I can make sense of ! I have literally spent hours looking at posts, which I think don't apply to me, but have found it all so, so interesting....

I still think the 7.2 and 7.3 are up - as it's two hours after my meals, so should be in the sixes ??

But still, beaming away - it's a good start, me thinks !!

It's an excellent start Helen and more importantly .... You're controlling it and not letting it control you 🙂

That's exactly how I feel Helen - I buried my head in the sand for two years thinking I couldn't do anything about it anyway. But not after joining here 🙂 I have personally been going off 6.6 for two hours after and 7.8 for one hour after so you are not far off at all :D

Brilliant Helen, I am so pleased to hear this! 🙂 Well done you! It is so much about education and experience, so reading about the experiences of others who have learned from past problems is enormously beneficial. I'm glad to hear you are finding the forum so useful 🙂

Excellent news. Its a great feeling when you numbers start to reduce 🙂

Not that far to go and especially since you are down in the 7s from the 20s. Just carry on doing what you have been doing for a little bit longer.
