Subject to tide conditions and the weather, Paul is expecting the relay to take place next Monday or Tuesday.
Reading swimmer Paul Burrows is competing in the Tidetastic challenge, a six-man relay swim from Dover to Cap Gris Nez near Calais, next week.
He is doing it for Diabetes UK and hoping to raise £2,000 for the charity.
Burrows, 50, who is owner and head chef at The Highwayman Inn near Checkendon, was told three years ago he was showing all the symptoms of being prediabetic.
“I knew I had to change my life. I have and now want to help others and also help with vital research,” he said.
