Babies prone to obesity should be targeted as part of the fight against the epidemic, an Addenbrooke?s consultant has suggested.

Dr Ken Ong, the Cambridge hospital?s foremost childhood obesity expert, said there are warning signs in the first year of a child?s life that should be picked up on, such as the speed of growth and the weight of the parents.

The Cambridge University lecturer, who also believes there is evidence in favour of bringing in a sugar tax and restricting food and drink portions, is undertaking research into obesity prevention for children aged 1 and under.

Odd that the article omits any mention of Dr Ken Ong's role as Growth & Development Programme Leader with MRC Epidemiology Unit, which is part of University of Cambridge and housed in Institute of Metabolic Science building on the Addenbrookes Hospital site.
