I don't really expect an answer but thought i would see what people have to say. I am Type 2 and have a Hba1c level of 36. I take metformin twice a day x 2 tabs. My concern is if the surgery hasn't the stocks (which the pharmacist mentioned in passing last time), should I reduce the tabs. I have emailed the surgery but as of yet no response. I can understand the non response they must be so busy.I suppose it is one way of finding out how much help the tabs at this dosage are or are not? Merely a thought .

Over the years I have been on Metformin there are many differnt brands and if one has not been available, I have been given another brand.
Many these days stop taking Metformin at HBA1C levels similar to yours. Why don't you see if you can have a phone appointment to discuss with your Doctor.

Do you get your Medication from a Pharmacy attached to your Doctor or just a Pharmacy.
Sometimes people have reported being told there is a shortage of a drug, then when they have contacted alternative Pharmacy, there has not been a problem obtaining. Appears sometimes to be the supply chain they use.

I‘ve had that with various things over the years. So now when a pharmacy says ‘manufacturing issue’ I automatically assume it’s just warehouse/delivery chain/ordering mess-up rather than a genuine manufacturing problem that might last or cause an issue.
If you have a printed prescription it’s usually easy enough to take it somewhere else... but the increase in electronic-only means sometimes you have to wait. So it’s wise not to leave reordering too late!
