Wee bit annoying to be honest. the main vibe of the topic was changing the name of type 2 diabetes, it seems type 1 is a real disease but type 2 is the result of your lifestyle, so people with type 1 are fed up with being thought of as eating too many cakes and being fat. standard inflammatory misinformed news piece. worth a listen if you want to annoy yourself 😉

I heard him announcing it on the way to the dentists - 'should we change the name of it, cos it's a condition many people bring on themselves' and shouted, No they %$^(*)(£ well don't! at the dashboard.

LOL

Oh ho trust me to get a condition that isn't really a condition but a lifestyle choice ... How very helpful ...

Well, thank God Type 2 isn't a disease. Does that mean I'm no longer diabetic then?🙄

As you see 12 quavers aren't so hard .
About changing the name I propose "starch and sugar intolerance".
In this case one could stress that the problem is the overload of foods, normally the one industrially-made and heavily adverised that are plainly unhealthy for everyone.

I've never eaten 12 packets of crisps, quavers etc in a month.

Utter rubbish. I have one very good example. My family and extended family have type 2 diabetes. An aunt (one of my mother's sisters) had type 2 diabetes and she married someone who did not. She had two daughters, one developed type 2 diabetes the other did not. Yet they were brought up with the same food, the same environment, did the same activities etc. Yet the daughter who looked like the mother and therefore must have inherited more of the mother's family genes got type 2 diabetes and the other daughter who looked very much like her father, so must have had more of his genes, did not.
