Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else gets the beginning feeling of a hypo before their levels get that low? I'm at 4.5 at the moment and have the beginning feeling with slight shakiness and general awareness (feels a little like adrenaline hit).

Just me? Should I be worried about this? This has happened a few times when i've tested and been above 4 but only just. Could it be because my body was used to being high??

Thanks,

hannah

It's not unusual to have warning signs at if you have been stuck at high levels for a while (this can be useful if you need to 'reset' your warning sign level).

I also occasionally get symptoms above 4 if I am dropping particularly quickly.

No, it's not just you 🙂 I started feeling hypo symptoms yesterday, but when I tested I was 5.9. The symptoms started to get worse (I get a flickering in my peripheral vision), so I tested again about ten minutes later and I was 5.5. I think you sometimes feel the symptoms earlier if your levels are falling fast. So even though I wasn't hypo I had a jelly baby and the symptoms went!

You can also get symptoms at higher levels if your control has not been particularly good, so if you are used to being around 7-10 then you may feel low in the 4s and 5s.

Everything is normal, in I would be quite happy to get them 4.5 or below, its not too high and definitely not to low...............🙂

when my bs used to run hi 18ish i used to get hypo symtoms if it went down to 8ish

I proceed as per Northerner - no danger of brain damage or a 999 call, but that doesn't make you feel better. A LITTLE drink of Lucozade or a JB or whatever - DOES make the symptoms abate.

Thanks all - good to know I'm not strange!! (well about this anyway 🙂)

Sugars are settling around 5 now so I'm a happy girl - let's just hope it continues with all the bbq's etc coming up if the weather stays the same. How do people tend to work for injecting for those? I mean, normally it's the type of food I graze at, bits and pieces here and there not a set amount meal?

Buying a new bike on Sat, so hoping to cycle to and from work from Monday - wish me luck!
