Hi. I'm new to this computing lark and social media so a couple of questions to the wise.

Under my account there is a reaction count which says 0 even though I have reactions received. Looking at a few other accounts there scores are also 0.
Is this not used?

On entering the site address diabetes.org.uk I am told page cannot be reached there are too many redirects and try clearing my cookies which I did bur still the same.
Is it my machine or something gone wrong with the site? I am currently using a favourite to get directly to the forum.

Be gentle🙂

I get here by starting to type “forum” into my internet search box and the address then comes up (forum.diabetes.org.uk) because I’ve (obviously!) used it before. I find going via the main site too long.

I’ve never seen anyone with a reaction score so presume it’s not used, like you say.

I’ll tag @everydayupsanddowns for you.

I think when the forum changed to its current format a couple of years ago, it was felt that under the old system (where there was a list of people with the most 'likes') there was a potential to get competitive over how many 'likes' someone had got, so I suspect it was disabled on the new system.
I just tried getting in by entering the website address for diabetes.org.u.k., on my ipad, and didn’t have a problem, maybe there was a short term problem, sometimes it can be down for maintenance. (hark at my pseudo techy speech, I’m really a tech dinosaur,)

Thanks for that. I can understand the competition effect.
So it looks like it might be something with my old laptop. Like it yesterday and today which is why I wondered!

I now have site in favourites but the top page still does not work for me!

I always log out but I have many years in the defence industry so login out is habit from security point of view!

Sorry to hear you are getting a ‘redirects’ error @stillgoing

I’m afraid I can’t reproduce the error either, the ‘root’ domain diabetes.org.uk redirects properly to www.diabetes.org.uk for me. I’ve tried on a variety of devices and browsers and can’t see that error message even when trying to force http:// (which correctly redirects to https://). I’m stumped! Which browser and operating system are you using?

Can you reach https://www.diabetes.org.uk correctly?

And yes the ‘reactions’ were part of the new forum software that weren’t appropriate for the forum so were not used.

Hi, Thank you for your efforts. Yes I can reach the 'root' domain by all methods today. Problem has gone away. Aren't computers wonderful and predictable. Just like our condition.

I'm using edge on a windows 10 machine that needs beating up to get it to start!

Pity the label for reactions was also not removed. I used to do computer programming but at very low level so this type of thing grates with me. Spent many hours trying to figure out why a display didn't react as expected. Always helpful if someone points out a fault!

Anyway thanks for your attention and as I would have said 'no fault found operator error'.

That response was common around the same time as the 'press any key to continue' instruction - I also well remember the cartoon showing said 'operator' in front of the PC, about to smack the keyboard with the oversized sledgehammer ......

The 'no fault found operator error' Was a box we could tick of the company fault reporting forms. You did have to explain what the operator had done. A meeting was then held were all these fault forms and their solutions were looked at to check we were doing our jobs.

I use my 'favourites' too or I can't find here! Dunno how I found it in the first place, fluke I think, but glad I did. 🙂
