At risk of diabetes
Hi all. Not sure if this Q is in the right place. There's type 2 through my paternal side and my late Dad basically killed himself by not altering his diet and ended up with renal failure from uncontrolled Diabetes. He somehow made it to 78.I was overweight and pre diabetic. But turned it all around 3 years ago by eating a Keto diet. Its my lifestyle now for life as I never want to end up like my late Dad.
Anyway.I want to buy a Keto blood monitor but they're quite expensive. Can I use the £9.99 ones that are mainly a glucose monitor which also show Ketones, which say they're for type ! (?) or are they not suitable for my needs? Thanks.

I guess the first question is, why do you want to test blood ketones? What do you plan to do with the information? Would testing blood glucose or urine ketones given you useful information at less cost?

Use urine ketone sticks. That’s what the keto-eaters I know do. They aim for a certain colour on the stick. The sticks are £4 or £5 for a little tub of 50.
