Queen's University has secured ?32 million to help find cures for eye disease and diabetes, it has been announced.
The university claimed its new Experimental Medicine Centre, expected to open in 2016, could transform healthcare in Northern Ireland through cutting-edge research.
Queen's vice chancellor Professor Sir Peter Gregson said: "Queen's is celebrating this announcement today, but so too should the citizens of Northern Ireland as they will be the real winners from improved diagnosis and treatments of debilitating diseases."
