To mark World Diabetes Day on Monday 14th November Queen Alexandra Hospital is reporting on insulin pump technology available on the NHS to support those with Type 1 diabetes in managing their condition.
This therapy allows highly individualised insulin delivery hour by hour throughout the day via a tube inserted under the skin which remains in place for 2-3 days. The battery-operated insulin pump is about half the size of an I.Phone.
?I have been a type one diabetic for 25 years and over the years I've had to inject insulin sometimes up to seven times a day to be able to live a normal, healthy life,' says 29-year-old Anna Presswell.
