Does anyone, with a pump, go to pump review clinics, with d nurse and rep from pump company? I was told, in clinic, I would recieve an appointment to attend. I don't know when it will be.

I go to a six monthly pump appointment but I only met the pump rep the first time I think - the idea was that she'd show me the advanced menus but I'd already worked them out for myself by then.

A year ago I met a rep from Roche who trained me how to use their new expert meter, but as I don't have a combo pump it's not really necessary at the moment so I've gone back to my Nano meter as it fits better in my handbag.

Normally it's just the consultant and the diabetes nurse.

I have 3 monthly check ups with my DSN and 6 monthly check ups with my Doctor. Sometimes the pump rep is there, I've seen her about three times and I've been on the pump for a year and a half.

It's difficult to say, as different clinic's use different protocols with their pumper's. Some do regular group meetings with those who have pumps combined with individual consultant appointments, other clinics see their pumper's completely on an individual bases...

I've only seen the pump rep twice in over 4 years of pumping, but there again I'm not a regular at pump clinic! The over-seeing of my diabetes/pumping is different to most. I have yearly combined appointment with my consultant and pump nurse, but have an open appointment that enables me to phone if I need to see either. Then my surgery DSN, provides the interim bloods tests/basic review.

But this is because I've always be very independent and not had problems since starting pumps just over 4 years ago, so basically plodding down to clinic every 3 months for me felt like I taking up precious time from another diabetic who was struggling... So it's by my choice that my care is arranged as it is.

Hi Spirit,
I've never had a pump review or even seen a DSN as my pump is funded by my PCT via my GP.

Saying that though, you might find the rep will have some goodies for you like new skins etc. As to a rep sitting in on an actual hospital apt, then I would tell em to bog off :D
