Diabetes UK Scotland have submitted a petition to the Scottish Government and we need your support. We have one chance to show the Scottish Government we are strongly against the present situation of postcode prescribing and we want equal access to all treatments no matter where you live. In general, Scotland lags behind England and other countries in diabetes care and treatment.

Please take a minute to sign the petition, anyone in any country can sign it. It only requires a name then a click in the validation email, so it very fast. Every member of the household can sign if they have their own email address.

Please support this and forward it on to anyone who may be kind enough support the cause.

Looking good!

Thanks to everyone who signed the Scottish pump petition, we still need more signatures before 1st Nov when it's going in front of the Petitions Committee... however we do have what looks like some encouraging news today!!

Nicola Sturgeon at the SNP Conference said in her speech this afternoon - 'it is now widely accepted that insulin pumps can make a real difference to the ability of people with Type 1 diabetes to manage their condition and prevent complications.

They don't work for everyone but clinical guidelines say that far more people in Scotland should have access to them than is currently the case. Right now, only about 2.5% of patients have them.

So I make this commitment today. By 2013, 25% of all type 1 diabetes sufferers under the age of 18 will have access to insulin pumps.

And over the next three years we will triple the total number available to sufferers of all ages to more than 2,000 - improving the quality of life for patients right across Scotland'

Thanks again to everyone who supported us : ))

Neither link will open for me using IE. DUK say if that happens 'use another browser'. Don't have one and not downloading one just for this. Sorry.

You would have thought they'd have made it accessible to folk with IE, wouldn't you?

All done 🙂
