Has anyone been sent a letter to attend a pump clinic, with d nurses and rep from pump I use. This is as well as the twice a year appointments with endo doctor. If anyone could let me know what this all about, I'd be really thankful. I am paranoid about my pump being taken off me. I'm sure this is not what the meeting is for. I really could not manage without it.

the company prbably wants to see how people are getting on with their pumps so they can give better support. Phone the nurse and ask her.

As far as I am aware (and some one will put me right if I am wrong) your NHS or primary care trusts fund pumps, the companies supply them to anyone who has funding.

If pump rep is there then it's just to check you have sussed all on the pump and you are happy with it. Plus they quite often have freebies going for the pumpers.
So don't worry.

My pattern of appointments has changed over the last 12 months.

I now get an annual pump clinic to talk pump stuff/how things are going/check basal rates etc and an annual review/toe tickle/height/weight/BP etc at GP surgery.

These appointments are approx 6 months apart and where I live there seems to be a move toward decentralising care of relatively stable diabetics into GP surgeries (weight/BP/general wellbeing etc), while focussing resources at the hospital where there is more need.

Perhaps your pattern will be changing too? Phone the appointment bods and ask the question - if you'd prefer to be seen in a particular place (eg you'd prefer to stay at the hospital for everything) then just ask.

You never know what's afoot. Could be the co has a new rep who ants to get a feel for her customers? Could be they are bringing out some new gizmo (or thinking about it) and they want to canvass opinions on whether it would be useful or not.

If there was the slightest chance of anyone's pump being taken off them (and there isn't) then there sure as HELL wouldn't be anyone else there except HCPs and patient. No WAY would the rep be there let alone other patients.

Don't worry! - it will be interesting, not scarey!

Thanks for replies. I get nervous before any appointment. I think I'm getting wound up because it's a new sort of clinic, and I'm not sure what to expect. I'll let you know what happens.

The last time I saw the rep it was to give me the Expert meter and train me how to use it, it took a lot longer than I was expecting and I had to phone work as I had only booked the usual hour off work!
