Public sector bodies in Wales are still pressuring departing employees to sign severance agreements that include gagging clauses ? 13 years after the Welsh Government said that should not happen.
In July it was revealed that more than ?17m had been spent by the Welsh NHS in four years on staff payouts which include confidentiality clauses.
Now, in a case where employees have already criticised the council that employs them, the local authority concerned is trying to get them to sign a gagging clause before they receive severance payments.
In 2000, just a year after the National Assembly was established, which is now known as the Welsh Government, decided to ban confidentiality clauses in ?departure agreements?.
