Hi @Daisy22 . Proteins do not usually affect your blood glucose as much as carbohydrates do so you can eat any protein sources you enjoy. Fish, meat, eggs, or veggie alternatives and dairy, including cheese.
Cottage cheese is fine. If you are eating a low carb diet you could have cream cheese or cheddar as an alternative. The higher fat content helps fill you up along with the Protein.

Hi
I have Been eating the low fat cottage cheese, is it ok to have the full fat one?
Sorry I am new to all this

Unless you have a health condition where you need to limit the fat in your diet then full fat cottage cheese is fine. Have a look at the recipes on the Diabetes UK website or on this forum if you are looking for ideas. What sort of food do you like to eat?

I like cream cheese but am not so keen on cottage cheese. You have marked yourself as At risk of diabetes, so a few tweaks to your diet are what is needed. You need protein for your muscles. I have 10% Greek yoghurt berries and nuts or seeds for breakfast. It is suggested full fat is healthier than low fat. I am overweight but the bonus of diabetes is I found reducing my carbs caused me to lose weight whilst some fat and protein kept me full. Unless you particularly like the taste of low fat cottage cheese I would go for full fat.

I enjoy fish which is a good source of protein. I've had wild sea bass with lots of green vegetables tonight.
Lunchtime after my hygienist appointment I went to my local cafe which has a small menu mainly pastry cake or sandwiches. I had cheese salad and tomato in a ciabatta but I had been swimming in the morning.
Make sure you still enjoy yourself. Avoid lots of sugar and reduce portion size of carbs. I still sometimes have a piece of cake or a pastel de nata. I choose to have these in a café so I don't eat too much. I go to my local WI market on a Tuesday and still sometimes buy a small pie and occasionally a piece of cake but before my diagnosis I would have bought a sausage roll or a scone each week.
