Hiya everyone hope all is well, I'm after ideas and advice, im on my journey to have a second child and currently on second month of folic acide before we can start trying, im in need of advice as I've been told you have to have 3 main meals a day with 3 snacks a day does anyone have any good go to snacks, also breakfast ideas inwork 3 days a week and usually im up and out for 515am and dont return till 15 pm so those days im really struggling to think what would be suitable that would fill me and be xarb protein friendly. Any ideas advice would be much appreciated toa ") Emma.

I’d be looking for meals to fill me rather than looking for filling snacks really. What kind of things are you eating at meals that means you’re hungry in between? Can you up the protein or veg in your meals to help?

Thanks for your reply 🙂 I'm not hungry in between if anything i dont eat enough, but my diabetic nurse at hospital said when pregnant ill have to have three meals a day with 3 snacks a day as the snacks have to be balanced carb and protein for the baby's growth. I make sure I have plenty of veg and salads to help. It's just the snacks that you got to eat that are confusing me. X

Nuts have protein and varying amounts of carb depending on the variety of nuts - skin-on nuts have fibre, which helps to make them filling. There are various nutrients (eg zinc) in certain dried fruit and nuts. If you like cooking, maybe you could batch-cook some nutty muesli bars (there’s bound to be a carb-counted recipe on the Diabetes UK web site)? You could vary ingredients eg dried apricots/raisins/cranberries/dates, maybe chocolate chunks if cals aren’t an issue for you?

Nature Valley, KIND or shop own protein nut bars are low carb less than 10g per bar.
High protein yoghurts are very filling, low carb, low fat. But if you are not hungry then it is hard to bring yourself to eat.

i suggest making notes about what you are eating now and dividing it into 6 to comply with the instructions, but do not increase your intake of food or you might end up really overweight and struggling.
Be sure to have enough full fat products and cuts of meat - our brain and nervous systems are built from saturated fat and cholesterol and other lipids, so there could be problems in store if they are not available during pregnancy, plus they are the building blocks for hormones and substances essential for your health in the pre and post natal period.

Hi , All I have been doing for the last couple of days is to read about type 2 diabetes.

Any issues with low carb food and food with good fat ?

That is the regime that many Type 2 follow if managing their diabetes with diet and oral meds. Assuming there are no other medical issues where people need to be careful of fats.
I think it is more a case of low carb normal fat and just not low fat.
If you have not looked at this link it may give you some ideas. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/
