Hi all, I didn't say hi properly on the forum so here goes. I also haven't thought this was for me but am proved wrong by great support so far. I have been diagnosed with pre diabetes since my son was born 15 years ago. I managed to keep off diabetes diagnoses by intermittently losing weight say 5kg. However I'm now trying to reverse a diabetes diagnoses as I've had 2 HB1 readings above 7. My doctor has agreed I can try to lower it by diet amd exercise but he was not optimistic. He wants me on metformim which I will take if needed but am trying to avoid. I bought 2 CGMonitors to see what was happening, have changed my diet and lifestyle and am crossing fingers. Finding it quite hard but just trying to ignore the hot cross buns in the supermarket.

Awwww thanks @Franthepotter !

Glad you are finding the forum helpful and supportive 🙂

Well done on the weight loss so far. And I hope the results from your monitor help you to tweak your diet to be more blood-glucose friendly.

Supermarkets are a whole world of temptation aren’t they. And it’s always those things that seem to be on special offer!

Well done with your progress...i think that often if you make eating food that works/is healthy for you a 'habit' then that helps.

I am sure I found a recipe for hot cross buns with lower carbs somewhere online.
All is in chaos at the minute due to new windows and decorating going on so I have no idea where my kitchen folder has gone to, but it might reappear sometimes soon.
I make such things into little loaves and then slice them up, as I have discovered that making a smaller bun means eating all of it, ignoring the advice of Archangels (to Adam) and the second Delphic maxim (nothing to excess) not to go the whole hog. Dainty slices seem to be the best option, and freezing them in pairs to be served lightly toasted.
I really must find that folder.....
