Caught news of a report from Sweden today which found a 19% increase in risk of being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer from eating as little as 50g of processed meat a day, though the cancer is still rare.

I read that earlier this morning Mike.

I didn't know I was only sposed to eat 70g a day. I don't recall that being a major news item?

The processed meat problem has been mentioned before I think, more to do with all the preservatives they put in perhaps. I remember last year I was a bit nervy as I dropped the carbs and increased the processed protein:(

We cant win whatever we do.🙄

Don't you think the statistics are incredibly difficult to interpret? 19% increase sounds huge, but a 1 in 79 chance of getting it anyway (for a woman) sounds enough, but they say it is rare!
We have always known that sodium nitrite can increase the cancer rate, but we really like bacon and ham in the UK (!) - plus it used to keep us alive when it was the only way to keep meat from going rotten during a long winter. Received wisdom used to be that it was better than/no worse than the chemicals created during barbecueing meat.

Don't we have enough to worry us about with diabetes??
