Just wondering if anyone else has problems with Toujeo. I have a complicated medical history and Mitochondrial diabetes being treated as Type 2 which is not always a good fit. I got changed to Toujeo at the end of last year and at the same time I was trying to stick with Trulicity treatment for weight loss but had to give up as I was feeling so ill.
Now I find I can't get any sense of control back, I've given myself a good few months to recover from the Trulicity episode but now my blood glucose levels are running consistently high all the time.
Just wondering if anyone lese has problems making Toujeo work for them? I have started splitting the doses morning and evening to see if that has any effect.
If I know that others have found it to be unrelibale then I can mention this when I call for a telephone appointment with the diabteic nurse and this would help with the disucssion.

Sheila - has anyone mentioned the word carbohydrates to you?- ie cutting down your consumption of them?

Not everyone can tolerate low carb, I have tried and my blood glucose more than doubled. I have a complex condition and am not yet fully diagnosed so there may be a reason for the carb and also exercise problem that I have.

It's OK, I know carb counting helps a lot of diabetics but I was trying to aim for experience of Toujeo as a drug, I am quite sure now that it is that which is amking me much worse than I would expect.

I‘ve never used Toujeo, but as a long-acting glargine insulin I would think that you would need to find a balance between diet and medication. Toujeo will be providing some 24 hr BG-lowering background effect to support your pancreas’s own efforts, but it may also need support from your food intake to balance things out.

Have you considered keeping a ‘warts and all’ food diary alongside your BG results to see if you can spot any patterns?

I was on it once and had the same problem, I went back to levermir, which, I believe, is more suitable for splitting the dose.
