Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi there,
I am 32 yo and have been type 1 since I was 11.
I live in Tanzania, E Africa, and I am 5m pregnant.
I wanted to come back to the UK to have the baby because health care is expensive and substandard here, but my husbands visa was refused.
So we are trying to decide what to do.

I have some questions that if answered, would make the decision about whether to go back to the UK alone to have the baby would be better than having my husband with me in TZ.

'Normal' births are successfully offered here, the problem is C -sections.

- How likely is it that I would need a C-section?
- At what point in my pregnancy would that be determined? At 20 weeks, the baby was measuring 20 weeks, so at what point does the big growth spurt come?
- What are the risks to having a normal birth with a 'big' baby?

Sorry if these have been answered, Internet here is poor so I am having trouble searching!

Any advice would be gratefully received
Thanks
Beth
