Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Wondered if anyone was in a similar position. I have Type 1 Diabetes, predisposed to blood clots (pulmonary embolism history/factor V leiden) and also 40....but considering pregnancy and feeling absolutely terrified. Would be really lovely to speak with people in a similar position to learn from experiences and get a perspective from people that understand what we live with day to day.

Hi and welcome.

Afraid I can't offer any experience in respect of the issues you face and you may be unlikely to find anyone else in your situation to compare notes with here. We don't seem to get many pregnancies on the forum let alone ones with other health complications, but maybe I will be wrong, just didn't want your post to sit here unanswered.
I imagine from all perspectives, keeping your BG levels in range and stable will be even more important than it is for a normal pregnancy. How do you currently manage your diabetes? Are you on a pump or multiple daily injections and which insulin(s)? What sort of time in range are you achieving on Libre or other CGM at the moment? Can we perhaps offer you any practical tips to improve on your diabetes management. Things that you can put into place now which will make it easier if/when you do get pregnant.

Anyway, just wanting to say "hello" and wish you lots of luck!

Thanks very much for the replies and appreciate the welcome 🙂
@rebrascora thanks for the honesty, I tend to agree with you, my situation is perhaps not common. I am currently on daily insulin injections and use the Libre. Daily management has improved, I have got my hba1c from 65 to 55 in recent weeks and still going! I had a reality check at Christmas in terms of my cholesterol increasing so have been on a health kick.

@Sophie DUK thanks for the tip

@everydayupsanddowns thanks for the link reference, I hadn't seen this so will give it a read. Grateful of any material. Yep have spoken with my team, just was hoping to see if there was anyone in a similar position, although appreciate that may be unlikely!

Thanks very much for all your replies...appreciated.
