Anne - one blood test representing in this case about one millisecond of your blood's life - cannot possibly tell anyone that! It's a reasonable sign that your fasting BG might be OK, now all you have to do is measure every other millisecond and see what they're doing! LOL

Not quite sure what instructions you have had with your meter about testing your blood, please tell us a little bit more about yourself.

I would say that 5.9 is not a bad early morning reading, but as @trophywench says it is just a snapshot in time.

Do you have any other readings (perhaps before and after eating).
5.9 is OK.
