At risk of diabetes
Hello everyone. 45, female, overweight and strangely grateful that I've just been diagnosed as prediabetic with a score of 43. My dad has diabetes and I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes when pregnant. So I'm glad I've caught this in time.

Has any one joined the healthier you program with the NHS? And also any recommendations for prediabetes and info? I've just bought a treadmill to up the exercise.
Lovely to be here. Thanks

Welcome to the forum, I'm not sure what that specific program involves as they likely vary depending on where you live but this link may point you in the right direction being a low carb approach designed by a GP surgery to help their patients. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
I found adopting those principals (not the meal plans per se) was successful for me

Eating low carb can reduce blood glucose very effectively, but it can also result in over medication for high blood pressure, so if taking tablets for that, and start to feel faint when standing up or going upstairs, take action - on the low carb forum I have read of people having serious falls, one life changing, due to keeping on taking the medication.

Welcome to the forum @Rebecca HLMW

I think the Healthier You programme connects to the Oviva diet? We’ve have a few members who have had success with that, which you can see here

You might also like to register with the Learning Zone (orange tab in the main menu) which is full of bite sized modules that will give you a lot of background information about Type 2 diabetes.

Welcome to the forum Rebecca!

Glad to see you've got a positive attitude about it all and that you're determined to make positive changes 🙂 great to hear you've got a treadmill! That should make getting exercise in regularly easier. Any questions or doubts just ask the forum!
