At risk of diabetes
In 2016 I was 16st 10lb and got a TIA (mini stroke)
In 2018 I was 14st 8lb and got a minor stroke (now gone)
In 2024 I am 14st 9lb and getting nervous again because in late 2018 I'd got down to 12st 13lb.

It's difficult to focus.

The NHS trial recently - soup and shakes.

Which soup?
Which shake?

Welcome to the forum. You have set a status of 'at risk of diabetes', were you told your HbA1c result for blood sugars?

Read down this page for soups and shake diet info https://www.diabetes.org.uk/about-u...iet-to-help-people-with-type-2-into-remission
It appears you need referral by your GP, but to be honest I'm not familiar with it myself.

Please remember after the initial set diet is finished the most important thing you can do is to choose a new way of eating, and not return to the old way which brought you to this point.
The chosen new way of eating needs to be something you can live with as an ongoing thing. It needs to include food choices that you can enjoy, but are also healthy in regard to your health conditions.
Please post any questions you have, we are a helpful friendly bunch 🙂

If you are at the pre-diabetic stage which would be indicated by an HbA1C of between 42-47mmol/mol then some modest changes to your diet is likely to be sufficient rather that a formal Soups and Shakes regime that people are referred onto by their GP when blood glucose is high and they have weight to lose. It is usually nutrient balanced and done under medical supervision rather than just any old soups and shakes.
Many in your position find a low carb or low calorie regime successful in making changes. I personally found the low carb route was one I could adopt as my new way of eating not A DIET. This link may help you with some ideas. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
