The presence of posttraumatic stress disorder is significantly associated with the development of type 2 diabetes. This is the finding of scientists from the Helmholtz Zentrum M?nchen and the University Hospital Gie?en and Marburg who worked with data from the population-based KORA cohort study. A sustained activation of the hormonal stress axis due to chronic stress symptoms is most likely a major causing mechanism.

It's a funny coincidence that you posted this today.
We were talking to a friend this morning who knew of somebody who woke up while earth was being shovelled over his face. He was laying in a shallow grave after sombody had tried to murder him. Apparently this shock brought on his diabetes!
We laughed, totally disbelieving our friend; however I must now apologise to him and accept that this may well be the case.

I hasten to add; we don't usually go around with people who murder each other.
