Hello. I care for someone who has recently undergone Pascal laser. Upon their last bout of laser, they have lost some of their central vision and also some colour definition have gone. It had now been around a week and a half since laser. They are getting very anxious and worried regarding giving up their licence as they drive a emergency vehicle. Will this vision improve and also are they able to drive with monocular vision of their good eye is ok? Any help or guidance would be very helpful. Many thanks

What's stopping him asking whoever did the laser treatment what he should now do and whether his sight will improve etc?

I have known a couple of people who only have vision in one eye, one due to polio as a child and the other with repeated malaria infections and they both drove.

Hi They are very aware that if they asks whoever has done the laser may get back to their employer and this will them end up with having the part of their driving licence which enables them to drive a emergency vehicle revoked! Plus they love their job and we are saving for a house together

Please follow the rules, for their sake and for the sake of other road users.

I have had much laser treatment. After every session I have reported to DVLA and had to go for an eye test to check the field of vision. I am following the DVLA rules on driving with eye problems. It would be better not to drive than to cause an accident.

Hope all goes well. Sometimes it takes a while for eyes to recover after laser.
