Hi all,

This morning Alex is ketone free. I know this will sound silly - i know that you shouldnt exercise if you have ketones - but if he wants to play or run around - is he more prone to develop ketones today as its not long since he had them? Does it take a bit of time for the body to recover from ketones?:confused:Bev

What are his blood sugars like? If they're ok I'd have said go for it, maybe just keeping an eye on it. If they're high maybe be a little more cautious, especially remembering that urinetesting for ketones is a little while behind what's actually happening.
Is alex feeling better this morning, hope he is to enjoy what's looks like will be a sunny bank holiday!!

Hi Aymes,
Yes he is full of beans today! His level was 13 on waking - but that is loads better than it has been since monday - when it was 21! Do you know how inaccurate the urine strips tests are? I have asked for a proper meter to check in future as it wasnt much fun waking him at 3 this morning to go for a wee and check for ketones! It is glorious weather here today so i thought we could go walking and a picnic - but he wont just walk - he seems to find the hardest route to go on so ends up walking 3 times as long as the rest of us! Hence the reason for my question re:exercise! I will check him en route - i am sure we can find the odd bush! Can you imagine anyone finding us doing a urine test behind a bush!:DBev

I'm glad he's feeling better, if he's not showing ketones this morning I'm sure he'll be fine as it looks like he's gone a good while without them so don't worry too much, go out and enjoy yourselves, you both deserve it after a couple of stressful days!!

Regards accuracy, as far as I'm aware, the urine strips are acceptably accurate of what they're reading, it's just that by the time the ketones get to the urine the situation inthe blood may be different, higher or lower. If you can get a blood testing one I'm sure it'll be useful.
