Possible cure.....

Hello,

Good link, but as aymes said I'm unsure I'd call this a 'cure'.

I also think the term 'artificial pancreas' is very misleading. What they've done is make a Constant Glucose Monitoring System (CGMS) test your blood all the time and communicate wirelessly with an insulin pump to control how much insulin it gives you.

Doing this requires you to wear two cannula's attached to your skin, one for each device. There are other systems available that currently do this. I'd like to see them try and refine this to only one canula/sensor and one device doing both the blood sugar reading and pumping. I guess this is something they will aim for in the future.

Personally I'm happy enough doing injections at the moment, although I think I would be tempted to switch to a pump if it had built in CGMS.
