Patients with Cushing’s syndrome, a disease that can lead to extreme weight gain, type 2 diabetes, hypertension and psychological issues, experienced significant, sustained weight loss while taking oral medication daily, research from one endocrinologist has shown. Cushing’s syndrome is a result of excessive levels of the stress hormone, cortisol, which is usually caused by a non-cancerous tumor in the pituitary or adrenal gland.
