My response to someone elses thread has made me think about portion sizes. here are some of the ones I was given, but it would be helpful if others could post their offerings as well.

an apple about the size of a tenis ball
grapes about 6 or 8
an orange about the size of a tenis ball
satsumas, clementines and mandarines two
peas and sweet corn a table spoon full
nuts a handful

Not sure how accurate my guide is, but it's a start.

nuts a handful

Lucky that I have buckets for hands! 🙂

Dried Apricots --> 5 or 6
Aubergine --> 0.5 (80g)
Avocado --> 0.5 (80g)
Basmati Rice --> 2 heaped tablespoons
Oily fish --> 100g
Porridge Oats --> 2 to 4 tablespoons
Spaghetti --> 25g (uncooked)

This is a selection from the "Balance Of Good Health" Guidance pages from the Diabetes Xpert course run by the NHS.

I know a put a handfull for the nuts, but it always amuses me as some folks have quite large hands and others have teeny tiny hands!
