Police forces are planning their own contact tracing system over concerns the government's test and trace scheme could place officers in danger, Sky News has learned.

Under the plans, police officers who test positive for COVID-19 would not give their contacts to NHS contact tracers, but would instead inform their police force who would take over contact tracing to identify anyone at risk of catching the virus.

The plans, which are being developed by national police organisations, could see police forces take over all contact tracing for police officers and staff, according to a source close to the matter.

Most people would take more notice if the police rang - well, decent people!

Proper sense ! Who exactly have “they” Employed as NHS Tracers? I’d rather give my details and contacts to the police to trace. I image a fair whack of the population would rather trust the police.

They've outsourced it to a call centre in a deal with their mates :(

Hehe! I hadn't noticed you had posted this @ColinUK, I posted it in the Entertainment section also :D The first step is a bit wrong as they don't contact people who have tested positive, they contact people who have been named by the positively-tested person (possibly as mentioned in step 6!) 😱 :D
They do contact anyone who has a positive test, see here..
