I disappered again, sorry about that. I've had a nasty chest infection for a while which keeps coming back and got carted off to hospital last week with what turned out to be pleurisy. I was let home yesterday but have to rest and have a community nurse coming in twice a day to help out for the next week or so. While I was in they took my meds and meter off me and my numbers have improved a bit as a result, presumably because I didn't have to remember to take stuff myself. The only problem I had was dealing with a night hypo which the duty nurse told me was impossible with my meds. My language in reply was colourful to say the least! She got the ward sister in to give me a lecture, but I suggested a meter test instead: 2.4! Red faces all round and toast for me.

I feel like death warmed up and won't be in much as I recover because I'm doped up to the eyeballs and sleeping a lot.

Hope you are all keeping well and that 2013 will be a good year for everyone.
 
Alison, I am sorry to hear this :( Look after yourself, and I wish you a speedy and full recovery - and hope that 2013 is a MUCH better year for you in health, wealth and happiness, which you surely deserve. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}
 
What a nightmare!! Hope you recover quickly & 2013 improves rapidly for you! Xx
 
Sorry to hear you are unwell Alison and really hope you soon feel much better. total nightmare with the hypo whilst in hospital. It's such a simple job to test, I cannot understand them arguing. Poor you. Take care and get well soon.x
 
Obviously don't know what T1.5 is, then, do they? Encouraging, innit?

I hope you recover asap Alison, pleurisy is no flipping joke.
 
what a start to 2013 for you. I hope you are better soon and this is only a minor set back to what will be a good new year.
 
Thanks everyone, I'm feeling a bit livelier today.

I'm thinking it has a few advantages being this ill. I mean, when was the last time a doctor came to see you instead of you joining the coughing hordes at the surgery? He came to check out a boil on my leg (I get them when I'm run down) and made a crack about the Black Death. I like him, he's as sick and twisted as I am. And someone from the pharmacy brought my new prescription to me as well. I still sound like Darth Vader though.
 
Glad to hear you are on the mend Ally, and that your GP is 'pampering' you 😉 :D
 
OOh I know, my DSN came and visited me at home after I had my hysterectomy! - AND my D consultant came to the other hospital I had it done at, specially to see if I was OK !

Mind you it was a little NHS hospital where all the consultants actually TALKED to one another, so my Gynae had just mentioned to him, 'I've got a patient of yours in Droitwich (thanks, husband's BUPA) at the moment'

Felt like Lady Muck !

Thats awful for you, pleurisy can be so painful, my neighbour had it a few years ago and she had a nasty sharp pain inhaling.
I wish you a speedy recovery and i hope you start to feel much better very soon . Sending you get well (((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))
