Last night i had a few glasses of wine, decided that i would have a little snack so opened and ate jaffa cakes.. half a box! Bloods went to 15.5 but felt ok, today however they are slightly raised, 9.4 before food but my ears feel really starange, like im on a plane, they keep popping.

Need to get some healthier snacks in.. any suggestions? i don't eat Nuts or Cheese.

I'm having the same problem. Look at the thread "What a Bummer".

Hi proudspirit...

I forgive your sins.....haha
No seriously though, everyone need a treat now and again..and all diabetics need one, because of all the hard work you put into looking after your and dealing with there condition.:D

As far as I am aware cheese, nuts, fruit or corn chips eg..wotsits,skips,quavers.

If you have a sweet tooth I posted a reply on ceara's thread 'what a bummer'
that might help you..It certainly has for my teenage type1 son

Dear Proudspirit,

"Going off the rails" is OK once in a while, we all do it, so don't feel too bad. What I always think is that's over and done with now so no point agonising about it. I then resolve to carry on fighting this rotten affliction that we all share. One snack that I love is pork crackles - very low in carbohydrate, I have to ration them so I don't scoff the lot!

Regards Dodger

Wine and jaffa cakes - what a lovely sin. I'm sure we all do it from time to time but then have to get back to managing our foods. My other temptations of nuts and cheese are the very things you don't like Julie - ok for the blood sugars but hell for the calories

I'm sat here just finnishing off my custard slice, trying to understand why someone would sin, shame on you :D

I have just had a crunchie bar. ummmmm

Hi,

I tend to use Saturday night as my treat night. I spend the day with my two little monsters (love em really lol) and after being run ragged I like to have a beer or two and a nibble.

My favourite nibbles are those that are bad for you like chocolate (am good though as make sure it has raisans in it for my 5 a day!), custard creams, doritos and dip or like tonight a tray of mini chocolate eclairs!

I have compensated with my insulin and will be good tomorrow. Therefore, I think I can forgive your sins as mine are probably much worse lol.

Ahhh - naughty - wine and nachos with melted cheese and chilies....:D

Good: twiglets, fruit, water :(

I just had a chocolate muffin O.o

but only because my blood sugars have been good all day and when I checked before I ate it they were at 6.4! :D Way to treat myself.

But I will be good tomorrow...

I agree with gasman i use a Saturday night as my treat night i has 2 mini snack size mars bars and washed it down with half cup of oj , ah well we can all have a little treats cant we

Hi Steff

Surely spreading out your treats through the week would mean less overall effect on your blood sugars?

I dont know my level are steadying around 8.5-8.8 past 3 days which i pleased at, i dont think im doing anything wrong

i think it is up to the individual to choose how they have the treats they want.

Oh Steff - I admire your will-power - how do you manage to stick to 2!!:D

I was feeling particularly lazy last night, so had sausage sandwiches with lashings of brown sauce, raspberry ripple ice cream, 5 pieces of Galaxy and 3 cans of Stella for my tea!😱:D
