I am aware I am probably being stupid (quite often happens o_O) but my BG was 6.7 first thing which is low for me recently- I had a small natural yogurt and a handful of raspberries and 2 hours later my BG is 11.4....

How many carbs in the yogurt? There will be a few in the handful of raspberries too.

We are at our most insulin resistant first thing in the morning, so it doesn't take much to send us high. I aim to have no more then 10g/Carb for breakfast (and sometimes it's zero).

Some yogurts are quite high in carbs. I only eat Weight Watchers which are 5-6g per pot. Nice 🙂

5.6 in the yogurt and about 4 in the raspberries- didn't realise that we were more insulin resistant at different times...although my BGs are still quite high (yesterday 10.00 9.8 9.8 11.1) even though I'm following a 35g carb a day diet and have been changed to the SR Metformin. Feel like I'm being deprived for nothing :(

What kind of yoghurt was it? Low fat yoghurts tend to have more sugar to try and make them taste better, I wouldn't think there were too many carbs in the handful of raspberries unless you have unusually large hands lol as there is just under 5g carbs in 100g raspberries x

I have yoghurt and walnuts each morning (except when I have a fry up). I tend to choose a yoghurt that it less then 10gCarb per 100ml and spoon about 2 or 3 spoons on the nuts. It's a bit more efficient for me to buy a 450ml tub rather then individual small pots.

If you really want to go low carb then you can get the Alpro soya yoghurts. Those were about 3g/Carb per 100ml. I didn't like the taste of them.

Haha- my real name is Sasquatch (?) - the yogurt was only natural one (5.6) and yes the raspberries were probably only a couple of grams.

Yeah I didn't appreciate the taste either- took me a while to get used to Natural yogurt which I now love. Like your idea of the added nuts though 😎

Was there a good fat content in the yoghurt? x

4.5 with 2.9 being saturated- is that good or bad?

Maybe try having one with a bit more fat content, fat helps slow the spike, I'm trying to think of a relatively low carb higher fat yoghurt, OH Tesco greek style yoghurt is 5.5g carb per 100g but 9.5g fat, Yeo Valley Greek style - 5.3g carb, 9.7g fat, or even better if you can get hold of the Tesco Finest Greek Style (I cant get it at my local) its 3.8g carb and 9.9g fat x
