Please note this has been posted by someone else on an email pump forum from a few years back it is not my idea but it does work for high fat foods.

Jeeezzz ........ all that for a pizza!!!!!!!

Does he eat one to himself? My daughter has about a quarter or a third of a regular pizza which needs 50% of the insulin over 4hrs on the pump (other 50% up front). Not had to add any extra bolus onto it but may be because she's having smaller portion ? though appropriate for her size so perhaps not
Let us know what works in the end 🙂

Yes .... A whole one....Mmm Growing lad and all that! he is a slim build and sporty[17 now] and doesnt snack in between meals at all- which I suppose is a good habit to get into.maybe we will add a unit on for future .

I tend to keep to around 60-80g for pizza, that's usually 3-4 slices.

I don't get anything like the 'pizza effect' that many struggle with. After quite a bit of experimentation, what seems to work OK for me is 115% of the calculated total dose as a Dual Wave split 60:40 over only 1 or 2hrs

I tend to keep out of having pizzas. I see kids having big pizzas & full bottles of coke 😱😱😱 Would be shocked how many carbs that would be

Hi Delb t,

After lots of trial and error we have finally worked out the best solution for Alex (although I realise its different on injections than a pump but may give you an idea of how to spread it out) which is 45/55 over 8 hours. When on injections we couldnt really get it right for pizza but did inject half before and the rest about 3 hours later - the trick is remembering to do it though. I hope you find a way of dosing - lots of pizza in your house to practice!🙂Bev

p.s. We also add on around 15 carbs for the fat content - not scientific but it works.
