hi guys new to the site but not to diabetes. this morning i was prescribed a drug called pioglitazone and reading the info leaflet i'm not exactly filled with confidence. can anyone tell me more about it?
My favoured information source is the Blood Sugar 101 website - she doesn't seem to like this one much! You can see her thoughts on this link: http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/18554346.php
To be fair, I don't think she likes anything other then metformin and insulin 😉
thanks mark i appreciate your direction to 101. i'm on metformin sr and citagliptan at the moment and really don't want to hypo with another drug on the go. 😡
Hi Camski, welcome to the Forum 🙂 No words of wisdom regarding the drug I'm afraid - what are the alternatives if you don't want to take the extra drug?
hi northener thank you for your welcome. my next step is to be referred to hospital to get ready for injecting insulin. i'm not a big fan of needles so this is a concern for me. i spoke to my dr today on telephone appointment and he has eased my fears a little about pioglitazone but i still have my reservations 1-10 people out of every hundred have heart failure as a side effect and 1-10 people in every thousand develop bladder cancer so i think my concerns are well founded. it has also been withdrawn from use by the french german and united states governments so more cause for concern.
