Sadly - I'm not surprised whatsoever at the menu. Hospital kitchens have changed a bit since the days when a staff nurse would bring the order list round the day before and say 'There's nothing on here suitable for a diabetic! (Sigh) Do you like salad, cos there's always salad available (Oooh, yes please!) What do you want with it - ham, cheese, egg .... ?' Now you don't usually get advance notice of what's on offer - just the trolley with whatever's on it, and if the previous patients have had all of the one choice you might possibly have managed to eat, tough.

Things are picking up. I did notice in the diabetic clinic that the drinks machine had oodles of choice, but only one row out of 67 had full sugar Coke. And four rows of diet IrnBru. And the same applied in the entrance area of the hospital in Paisley, far more diet drinks than full fat.🙂
