I've noticed that I seem to need to go to the loo much less recently, just coming up to two years after diagnosis. When I was diagnosed the doctor asked me how often I went and I said probably 6 or more times a day/night, which he thought was a lot. I didn't because I had been drinking a lot at the time (way to go, diabetes symptoms! 😉)

Anyway, thought I would do a poll of the kind that probably doesn't feature on a lot of forums...how often do you need to go? It would also be useful to know how this has changed (if you can remember) since before you were diagnosed. 🙂

Just before I was diagnosed I was going for a pee at least 12 times a day, the worst was through the night, around every 2 hours (if I was lucky) before having to rush to the loo :(

Before I was diagnosed i was peeing at least 8-12 times a day and night.

Prior to diagnosis, I was lucky if I could last an hour before being desperate for a wee!! At night I was up 2 or 3 times. But I WAS drinking gallons of water at the time, so wasn't surprised!

Nowadays it's probably about every 2 - 3 hours, and rarely at night (although I do go to bed late and get up early, so not actually asleep for that many hours!)

xx

Oh Alan - I am disappointed in you

England? and I thought this was a UK site!

3 countries in the UK will not be able to take part

only kidding, I think....................

I voted 7 or 8 times a day, but that's probably too much tea and coffee at work.

[hangs head in shame] You're right Hazel! 😉 Now corrected my dreadful faux pas, please forgive me non-Englanders - especially as we are currently in Scotland doing the Challenge! 😱 [/hangs head in shame]

cheers hun - I appreciate your comments

Hazel, I've watched Highlander, Rob Roy and Braveheart, I would hate to cross any of our Scottish cousins 😉 I was just thinking that it is 35 years since I was in Nairn, which we have nearly reached on the Challenge! 🙂

but are you enjoying it?

how is your weather?

what exactly are you doing?

if you are going to be near Glasgow on your return journey, let me know and i will buy you a pint

Nope, no change in my routine at all. Which is odd because I was under the impression that I should be practically living on the throne.

Before I was diagnosed I had to go to the loo about every 20-30 mins and used to get up about 6 times a night (no wonder I was so tired!).

I am going to the loo quite a bit at the moment and faintly annoyed I cannot go all night without having to give in, get up and go. I have had to drink quite a lot of water for a couple of years now and found that by drinking more in the morning I didn't have to be running to the loo during the night. Diabetes has changed that.

Sounds as if things will get better though based on the comments on the thread so far. Great as I am fed up of the night time visits.

When i first started to get the symptoms i would drink anything i could get my hands on, and lots of it! Particularly had a craving for milk which was really weird! The drink had to be ice cold with ice cubes as well, even in cold weather! Was getting up at all hours of the night going to the loo about 10 times a day!

I was unaware of the D symptoms so just thought that drinking lots = weeing lots 🙄

Milk was a huge thing for me too - perhaps we ought to inform the general public of this specialised symptom? 😱

Think we should Northe! it was so strange coz i normaly only ever had milk with cereal but i was going through pints of it every day!!

I wonder if anyone else has experienced this pre diagnosis??

I could p for Scotland... I go usually twice during the night and twice before I go out of the door in the morning then sometimes I am lucky if I can make it through a 1 hour lecture without going :( as for a 3 hour lab class - no chance dont know how many times I have had to explain where I was going... But I have always been like this.
