I would like to hear from people on this drug. I have recently started to take it because metformin, gliclazide, linagliptin, diet and exercise are not working for me. I am worried about the side effects of this drug and would like to know about the experience of others.
 
Hi @jamienash, sorry to hear that you have already tried a few different meds that are not working. Are they improving your levels at all, or is the issue side affects each time. What sort of problems have you been experiencing with this drug and have you consulted a healthcare professional?
Hopefully others here have experience of the drug also.
 
Sorry not had experience of this drug, but understand what you are going through as I had the same thing at my last review, HBA1C had gone up from [previous review and nurse decided current medication was not doing its job and prescribed something I had never hear of. The lovely people on here gave me some good advice, which included talking to a pharmacist about the drug, side effects and how it will affect/work with any other medication you are on. Also I know we can only google, but research, research research, go back to your doc/nurse and ask to discuss if there are any other options available. Ask if you your bg levels improve can you come off of the new meds.
 
Wouldn’t touch this drug with a barge pole. They don’t allow it to be prescribed in France because of the significantly higher rate of bladder cancer. That doesn’t mean it’s likely by any means, bladder cancer is fairly rare anyway. There are also concerns about cardiac “events”. If it helps, all well and good, I suppose.

But you can only travel so far flogging a near dead horse.
 
Hi. I refused Pioglitazone due to side effects risk. If you are not overweight then you may be T1 and not T2 in which case you may need to consider moving on to insulin like I did when all the tablets failed me.
