I had appointement yesterday at my GP's and my HbA1c was 5.9 but I had discussed with him couple of weeks ago that i had not been feeling well and subsequently had blood test for thyroid and anemia which came back negative.

I said I was still feeling unwell and tired all the time etc and he has given me a questionnaire PHQ-9 to fill in and return to him.

Has anyone in the forum experienced this as have googled this and it is referring to depression .:(

Had to google it myself, but once I'd seen it I recognised it, so have done it in the past. Depression is often associated with diabetes or other chronic conditions partly because they can wear you down from time to time. Your GP is probably just trying to determine whether you might need help, either with CBT or possibly medication.

Thanks for the response, I have filled in te questionnaire and will deliver it back to the surgery on my way home from work today.

Im glad you explained that this can be linked to diabetes because im normally the sort of person who gives myself a kick up the backside when feeling down but this has not seemed to make me feel any better,:(

Hi Royston, sorry you're feeling low. Depression can affect how you feel physically as well as mentally. The good thing about filling in the wretched (!) form is that it gives your GP a benchmark to judge how you are now. You will probably be asked to repeat the questionnaire once you have started treatment, whether it's CBT or antidepressants. I hope you soon feel a bit brighter.
