im going to try again tomorrow thing that worries me is it could belong to someone who needs it
thanks for letting me rant ah that feels better

If you get a voice asking questions, you could try answering that you want to speak to a human please and just keep repeating that answer to every question.

Worked for me with NS&I the other day - mind you the human was not much help either!

It’s not just you, we need to ring DWP as my dads been in hospital more than 28 days and needs his attendance allowance stopped. It takes hours to get through though, and you can only try when you’re visiting as they won’t speak to anyone else without his permission but he’s not well enough to phone them himself when we’re not there, and visiting hours are limited so still on hold when visiting ends

Maybe try an email if that is possible, even a letter.
My son has been penalised for receiving a benefit that he was told was not due, lost a month of carers allowance, and then was told money had to be repaid - hundreds of pounds - for rushing to the aid of his mother in law who was in dire straits for a few days.
He looks after his disabled wife and their children, so was only away until he'd sorted out the mother in law, but months later he's still being harassed about it, still having to wait until the department can get round to sorting it out - which rather spoilt their Christmas last year and will probably impact on their Easter holiday plans this year.
The whole system is not fit for purpose, and 50 years out of date.
